For children, I utilize play and creative activities to help children process what is going on in their lives in an authentic, developmentally appropriate way. Not all kids are ready to "talk it out," and play helps give children the tools to better communicate their needs to their support system. It can also help them to develop coping skills, self-esteem and confidence. I hope to give children the freedom to explore their thoughts and emotions, and to work collaboratively with their families to help facilitate positive change.
When working with adults and older children/teens, I help each person figure out what matters most to them. Therapy is an experience that is unique to each individual, and I strive to meet those I work with wherever they are. I utilize a strength-based approach to help people bring out the best in themselves. Therapy should give you the tools you need to reach your goals, and understand more about yourself and your life in the process.
