About My Clients
Welcome! I specialize in working with children and adolescents in Tampa, Florida. Behavior problems, stress, school difficulty, and anxiety can be some of the signs that a child or teen is experiencing something particularly difficult. They may struggle to explain what they are feeling, or not know how to ask for help from the people around them. My job is to support children and teens by helping them manage their emotions and behavior in a way that is authentic to them.
My Background and Approach
Therapy will be a supportive environment to help each person better understand their feelings, priorities, and goals. We will work to develop authentic ways of navigating issues. I use a strength based approach to help clients figure out what it is they really want going forward. For children, therapy will start with a meeting with the child's parents, so that we can work together to establish a plan going forward. Some kids aren’t ready to “talk it out” yet. I use play therapy, a proven method that helps children work through tough problems in a developmentally appropriate way. Play therapy can include toys, activities, and games that help children feel move confident, build communication skills, and develop coping strategies that work for them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My job is to help provide clarity and confidence to those I work with. At the end of our time together it is my hope that they will have a better sense of how to move forward, cope with life's challenges, and be their own best advocate. Our practice is faith based, but we are happy to accept people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
