About My Clients
I am passionate about supporting young people and their families as they navigate difficult times. Growing up is hard, and behavior problems, stress, school trouble and anxiety can all be signs that a child or teen is experiencing something that is particularly hard for them. Therapy can help children and adolescents understand their feelings and experiences, and provide them the tools to move forward.
My Background and Approach
For children, I utilize play and creative activities to help children process what is going on in their lives in an authentic, developmentally appropriate way. Not all kids are ready to "talk it out," and play helps give children the tools to better communicate their needs to their support system. It can also help them to develop coping skills, self-esteem and confidence. I hope to give children the freedom to explore their thoughts and emotions, and to work collaboratively with their families to help facilitate positive change. When working with adults and older children/teens, I help each person figure out what matters most to them. Therapy is an experience that is unique to each individual, and I strive to meet those I work with wherever they are. I utilize a strength-based approach to help people bring out the best in themselves. Therapy should give you the tools you need to reach your goals, and understand more about yourself and your life in the process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe strongly in the resilient nature of children and teens, and hope our time together can be an opportunity for them to explore that. My job is to provide those I work with the specific tools they need to move forward. I hope to make the therapy room safe to explore whatever is needed to heal.
