About My Clients
I work with a lot of creative, passionate, curious people that have managed to survive through a lot. Often times there is this sense that the coping mechanisms that have gotten them so far have now stopped being so effective. My clients are often looking for more tools, more support to not only survive but experience more ease in their lives, more of a sense of connection in their relationships, and more of a sense of freedom and exploration in their creative, spiritual, healing practices.
My Background and Approach
After completing an undergrad degree in theater performance, I expanded my understanding of the body-mind connection as a certified massage therapist. As a body worker, I started to understand how emotional experiences both exist and persist within the body and I became increasingly interested in holistic healing. From there I moved to the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, where I was immersed in community committed to the ideals of human potential and personal growth. While there, I studied gestalt awareness practice, mindfulness, and creative arts—all of which informs my approach as a therapist today. I completed my master’s degree at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I learned to integrate gestalt, attachment theory, and spiritual inquiry into my clinical approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you are the authority on your own experience, and see my role as someone who can support the process without holding a position of authority. I understand the psychotherapeutic process to be intimately tied to social justice: we can only begin to dismantle systems of oppression when we feel adequately resourced internally, and we can only find ease internally when we come to understand the impact of the systems we exist within.
