Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Berkeley, CA
I am a bilingual therapist fluently in English and Mandarin. I am familiar with culturally competent therapy and service. Born and raised in Taiwan, I have worked and clinically trained in the U.S in various Asian mental health setting including hospital outpatient department, community mental health clinic, school-based mental health services, and private practice. As an Asian American psychotherapist, I naturally connect with immigration and acculturation issues that clients experience.
I understand and empathy with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, and related mood disorder. Depression is a chronic condition but people can live well with it to have a good quality of life and relationships. My theoretical orientation is an integration of psychodynamic, multi-systemic, and solution-focused interventions. I also was trained in mindfulness and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) that combined into my treatment with clients. I value the compassion of self.
Stress is an indication of lacking self-care and a reminder to look for support. Life can get stressful, so do our job, relationship, school, parenting, illness, and different life transitions. Sometimes, there are deeper reasons for our stress and it is healthy to look into it. Do you feel life is almost falling apart? Do you want to improve your mood and relationship? Are school and career choices overwhelming? I can empathize and may provide help.
