About My Clients
Perhaps you struggle with social anxiety where the majority, including some of your family and friends, hold different values than yourself. Maybe your religious beliefs don’t quite line up with most either. You may be trying to navigate life after the heart-wrenching loss of a relative or pet and feel isolated by the platitudes you receive. Or you are grappling with fears and anxieties centered around death or other worldly and systemic concerns. I'm here to help you feel like you belong.
My Background and Approach
I worked in public schools for nearly seven years. I was a school librarian and, later, a school counselor. I value that time and loved working with teens, especially those who were passionate about something such as art, video games, or anime, which were not often embraced by the educational community at large. I helped many students navigate social anxiety, panic attacks, and helped them sort out their future paths by exploring their values, especially during their senior year. Ultimately, I switched to private practice counseling because I wanted to spend more fruitful time with others, learning their story, and helping contribute to it. I am drawn to struggles, resilience, and enriching narratives. I believe that you can adapt and pivot at any moment, and I can incorporate interventions from an array of treatment orientations to help you with that. However, sometimes we all just need someone to listen and be there with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a proud product of the working class and public schools. I love to laugh about crude things occasionally and appreciate awkward, yet authentic, moments. I try to be down-to-earth and approachable. I look for the best in others, no matter their background. I believe connecting with nature and the words of others (via reading and storytelling) can provide healing.
