About My Clients
I utilize relapse prevention and harm reduction strategies to help support individuals through their recovery, or help guide the individual through supporting a loved one struggling with addiction. Through a holistic approach towards wellness, and using cognitive-behavioral interventions, trauma-informed care, and positive psychology, I help individuals make changes to improve their behavior, mood, thinking, and well-being to identify and maximize their personal strengths.
My Background and Approach
I have a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas and have more than 10 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in community mental health agencies. I have specialized training in evidenced-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and use existential and strengths-based approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an ally with the LGBTQ community and have provided support to people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, different sexual orientations, and various religious/spiritual beliefs. I believe that everyone has the ability to strengthen their resilience, increase their self-worth, and learn new behaviors at any point in their life, and that by reconnecting with our values we are able to create meaning in our lives which is often the antidote to many of life's challenges we face.
