About My Clients
My clients are people of all ages and gender identities. They are seeking guidance to either cope with a crisis, ease through a life transition, or learn coping skills for everyday life challenges. Most of my clients struggle with underlying trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Many are women going through a major life transition, and are seeking a skilled therapist who is empathic, compassionate, and sensitive to their issues.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in clinical social work and Psychoanalysis. Everyone's story is unique, and every person deserves an individualized approach to their problems. I use an eclectic approach which includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Interpersonal, and supportive counseling. Some clients benefit from short term therapy during a crisis. Others choose long term therapy to address deep-seated issues, such as trauma, Depression, Anxiety, or 'feeling stuck' in life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I offer a great deal of empathy to those who are experiencing turbulence in their life. My own transition from a stay-at-home mom of four, to juggling school, then a renewed career as a divorced single mom, gives me insight to support others through the process of healing, reflection on their lives, and moving forward with confidence. I believe everyone has a purpose. I also strongly believe people are more emotionally resilient than they realize. I don't believe humans are meant to figure out life alone; we are meant to have meaningful connections with others. Therapy is one way to feel less alone with your struggles. The therapeutic relationship can be incredibly healing. I have experience with a wide range of issues : Mental Illness; Autism Spectrum Disorder; Transgender issues; Divorce; Eating Disorders; Parenting; Chronic Illness; Anxiety Disorders; and Depression. Further, I whole heartedly embrace Mindfulness and Spiritual practices as part of overall wellness.
