About My Clients
I work with individual adults seeking to find their way home to themselves, their bodies, and a life that feels meaningful and connected. You might be managing anxiety, depression, or loneliness. Maybe you are dealing with the fallout of religious trauma, or walking through grief. Or perhaps you are seeking to build something new: more connection to your body, more sureness in your own voice, or more awareness of who you are and what your heart longs for.
My Background and Approach
My work is trauma-informed and influenced by relational psychotherapy (trying out ways of relating in therapy, as a sort of "lab experience" for real life), depth psychotherapy (paying attention to what's "under the surface"), and somatic therapy (calming your body so you have more "space" to address what's happening). I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School and have studied somatic practices through a 60-hour Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate program with The Embody Lab. I encourage you to reach out for a free 15-minute call to see if we might be a good therapeutic fit. I look forward to connecting with you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My philosophy of healing has been deeply influenced by the nature-based wisdom of writers like Robin Wall Kimmerer and Sophie Strand. My therapy practiced is named Mycelial Counseling because mycelia are the root-like structures that connect fungi to each other and to other plants. We humans are a lot like fungi: we are deeply interconnected with each other and the world around us. The cultures, systems, and landscapes we live in affect us - in ways that harm and ways that heal. In therapy, we look belowground in your life. We get curious about what’s popping up for you and why. We explore: Who and what nourishes you? Where you are depleted? Where are you seeking liberation? We compassionately untangle and follow the web of threads that make up your lived reality: the stories, questions, feelings, values, and desires that influence how you show up to your day-to-day life.
