About My Clients
If you have been suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, experiences of trauma or depression, I help you reduce emotional suffering and increase healthy coping. If you have been struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol or both, I can help you have increased success in staying sober or planning and implementing a harm reduction approach. I help you understand and improve the psychological symptoms that have fueled the addiction, giving your more control. I provide an accepting environment.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist in New York and California. I obtained my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, an APA accredited program. I also have a Master’s Degree in Psychology from The City College of New York. I have extensive experience in outpatient psychotherapy, community mental health settings, integrated medical care settings, residential and outpatient substance and alcohol recovery programs, and college counseling settings, working with diverse clients in New York and San Francisco. I will work with you to have a safe space in which to feel understood and able to talk openly without fear of judgment. As we work together I will support you in making sense of your behaviors, creating change in your life in areas that need it and learning skills so that you can feel more able to cope. Over time, I will help you increase your positive regard for yourself and work towards more fulfilling relationships & life choices.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I feel that change is possible once you have felt understood and seen. I believe suffering is a normal response to abnormal situations, whether those be familial, societal or both. I believe once you can make sense of your story, understanding and linking current coping responses to ways in which you had to adapt to survive detrimental and traumatic environments, you will be able to change. I believe systemic, societal ills need to be recognized as toxic elements that cause people tremendous emotional pain and loss of faith in themselves and the world. Growing up I suffered from anxiety, panic attacks, depression and low self-esteem. I always felt out of place and did not believe I was worth being esteemed by others. Personal therapy transformed my view of myself and gave me tools and confidence I never could have had otherwise. As practitioner I see how lives can transform with the right help. I look forward to talking with you!
