About My Clients
My therapy style tends to fit with people who appreciate open communication, some humor, and an empathetic, but direct, approach. My clients are often struggling with interpersonal relationship challenges and life transitions, as well as anxiety, depression, body image issues, and lots of other challenges that come with the human experience. I find my clients to be insightful, complex people, and I love getting to know their individual stories.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I have been in the mental health field for decades, and followed that passion to Bryn Mawr College, where I received a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work. I have since worked as a clinician in community mental health, inpatient mental health, addictions, and, for the last decade, as a therapist and Assistant Director of Counseling Services at a local university. Having worked with populations of people managing chronic mental illness to experiencing crisis, and everything in between, the thing that is most apparent is, while we all have our own stories, we also have a shared human experience that requires, and benefits from connection with others. My goal is to help facilitate that connection through a tailored, individual, culturally competent approach that will enable you to learn and use skills to overcome symptoms that are troubling you and allow you to flourish in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My belief is that the therapeutic process is a collaborative one. I cannot find solutions for your difficulties without you. My job is to help by asking the right questions, and offer interpretations that will help you to organize and examine your thoughts, process your feelings, and work through difficult trauma and emotions. We all have the ability to heal; to unlearn maladaptive coping mechanisms and learn new skills that will help us grow and create the life we want.
