About My Clients
My clinical experience includes working with adults suffering from substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health diagnoses in an intensive outpatient (IOP) level of care. I specialize in anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, PTSD, trauma, abuse, shame & guilt, codependency, personality disorders, anger, body-image issues, sexuality and gender-identity issues, career troubles, family dynamics, adult children of alcoholics, children of divorce, and military veterans.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach is based in openness, trust, curiosity, and cultural awareness. Why did I do that? What is wrong with me? Why won't they listen to me? Why does this bother me so much? Why can't I just be happy? These are some of the many questions we ask ourselves when we are struggling to make sense of our thoughts, emotions, & behaviors. Our brains are biologically designed to protect us, and every new experience we encounter imprints somewhere in our memory. Thus, the ways in which we respond to and cope with various stressors today are rooted in our learned experience from the past. It is when we build awareness, acceptance and compassion towards ourselves that true healing (and change) begins. In our work together, I may utilize concepts from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Theory, Jungian Shadow Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness & Meditation, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), or skills work from DBT.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a North County native, there is nothing more rewarding than serving my local community. In my free time, you can find me walking the strand in Oceanside, paddle-boarding in the Carlsbad Lagoon, or hiking out in Elfin Forest.
