About My Clients
My goal is to help clients achieve peace and contentment by increasing self-awareness and recognizing behaviors that no longer serve them. I make it my aim to partner with clients on their journey, identify their strengths, help distinguish areas for growth, and provide clients with non-judgmental support along the way.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from Walla Walla University in Washington state, with a master’s degree in Social Work. frequently employ a cognitive-behavioral approach, EMDR, Brainspotting and CRM in therapy. I believe that strong and fulfilling relationships with other individuals can help people maintain emotional well-being. I have 20+ years of experience in mental health, including individual, marriage, group counseling, crisis intervention, and substance abuse assessments.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I truly believe that we all have our answers inside of us, our own personal journey is a process of uncovering those skills and understandings. I look forward to meeting with you and through the therapy process identifying and unlocking some problem solving abilities that you weren't aware of, or had been dormant for some time. Treating trauma allows the nervous system to activate the parasympathetic response (or “rest and digest”) verses the sympathetic nervous system (or flight, fight, freeze, fawn). People with unhealed trauma often have a very difficult time relaxing as their bodies are always preparing them for a battle that it often not coming. Additionally, untreated trauma may also unconsciously attract repeated traumas as this is what is familiar to the nervous system. Breaking these patterns allows us to choose our actions in our life, rather than just reacting to external circumstances.
