About My Clients
It can be difficult to reach out and seek help. It can be a daunting task to know where to begin. You may feel stuck in old patterns of thoughts and behaviors and frustrated that you can't escape, trapped in your mind. You may feel hopeless because conversations with your partner seem to always end up in conflict. You may feel that like most people have "it figured out" and you don't have a place or a purpose. We'll work together to make sense of it all to get on the path of healing.
My Background and Approach
I will provide you with tools that I have gathered over a lifetime of experience and psychotherapeutic training. My goal is to help my clients metabolized latent and stuck emotional experiences and provide tangible skills to manage thoughts, behaviors and emotions. I will help you understand and identify the parts of the behavior analysis chain so we can interupt old patterns and insert desired actions. We will also access parts of the braint that are more difficult to reach through somatic interventions. I am well trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems for individual work and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Christian counselor, which means for those that desire a biblical perspective on the therapeutic process, I can bring that into our sessions. I will not force my beliefs on my clients, rather I wish to make my background available for those who desire this to be a part of therapy. I do not discriminate against anyone. Through my own experiences, which include abuse and a broken marriage, I have learned to accept what is mine to address and what is the responsibility of others. I have learned to accept people for who they are, who they are not, and the degree I wish and feel safe to interact with them. Additionally, Danny Carey (Tool drummer) is a genius and I hope to be able to play 1/4 as good as him some day. I reserve time to mentor/disciple men from my church to help them make sense of their emotions and be who God created them to be. Give me a shout, let me know how I can help.
