About My Clients
my ideal client had been struck by Out of the Blue panic attacks, live in fear of future attacks. They feel trapped by the terror of panic. Internally, the client is scanning for exits, monitoring their heartrate and dreading the next wave of heart pounding, chest tightness and worry about their health. Your world maybe shrinking as you avoid driving, shopping, exercise and being far away from home. I specialize in helping people understand panic, overcome avoidance and get their lives back.
My Background and Approach
For over 30 years, I have specialized in the treatment of panic disorder. I have treated more than 8,000 patients with panic attacks, panic disorder and anxiety-related conditions. My training includes a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Florida State University, an internship in Medical Psychology from the University of Oregon Medical School, and advanced training in Behavior Therapy. I served as a Health Psychologist at Harvard University School of Public Health and a Faculty member in a medical center Department of Family Practice. where I worked to improve recognition and treatment of panic disorder. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Reattribution Therapy to help people understand and take control of panic attacks. Patients learn that panic attacks are not "Out of the Blue." They learn the four triggers that set off the attacks and understand how normal bodily sensations are misinterpreted as a sign of catastrophe.
