About My Clients
My passion is working with individuals who are suffering from the effects and impact of trauma. First, we will complete a comprehensive evaluation to identify the main reason for therapy and understand your history prior to beginning treatment. After the initial evaluation, we will complete initial assessments to understand your baseline and to see your progress. Every individual is unique and therefore deserves an individualized approach to treatment. With time, you will get better.
My Background and Approach
After graduating from West Chester University with a Masters in Social Work, I worked in community mental health and drug & alcohol treatment specializing in trauma and addiction recovery. During that time, I became fully licensed as an independent clinical social worker and began my training as a trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapist. I treated individuals ranging from ages 4-72, using a variety of therapeutic interventions. My most recent experiences has been in maternal mental health and postpartum planning as a way to decrease postpartum anxiety and depression. Ultimately, I find that most have experienced some form of trauma in their lives and don't know how to deal with it. My role is to help you understand your symptoms and manage your mental health with the therapeutic skills I will teach you. The main goal of treatment is to increase the comfort in your own body, decrease symptoms and improve your overall mental health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have known I wanted to be a therapist since I was 7 years old. My mother told me I would make a wonderful therapist and it never left my mind. There is a lot of generational trauma and immigrant issues in my family of origin that made me curious to want to learn more about how to help people feel confident in who they are. Of course, I have also been through my own journey and have been in recovery for 10 years from disordered eating. My passion in helping individuals in their own recovery stems from my desire to extend the same helping hand that once helped me. It's not easy and it's a lot of work but it's completely worth it. You are worth it. I am worth it. We are all worthy of the work it takes to overcome our demons and step out of the darkness. Connection with ourselves and others is an innate desire we all have. I am here to help you reconnect with yourself, create a safe space to practice vulnerability and improve your mental health. Let's begin this journey together.
