About My Clients
My ideal client would be an adolescent who has endured some type of trauma or abuse. Their needs would include building resiliency and expanding their coping skills "toolbox." Their goal would ultimately be to find hope and healing, despite their adversities. They would want to be an active participant in their treatment, so that it could be as beneficial as possible. Having said that, any client who feels that they could benefit from my counseling services is more than welcome into my office!
My Background and Approach
I gained my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and National Certified Counselor (NCC). My experience involves working with adult clients who struggle with addiction and dual diagnoses, those of all ages who have endured childhood sexual abuse either directly or indirectly, adolescents with sexual behavior issues, and children/adolescent clients and their families with a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and unhealthy family dynamics. I mainly work from a cognitive behavioral therapy lens with my clients. My hope is that they will benefit from therapy with me in numerous ways, like transforming their negative thoughts into positive ones, experiencing themselves as "the expert" of their own lives in a safe setting, and building upon their strengths and sense of empowerment!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I take great pride in advocating for my clients whenever needed, especially those who belong to marginalized populations with lesser access to cost-effective and affirming mental health care, such as communities of color and the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I, myself, have personal ties to both of these communities, and thus, really like to invite my clients to educate me themselves on what their own experience of their culture and everyday life is like, particularly with respect to its impact on their mental wellbeing. Not one of us is exactly the same, but I can promise you that you will most definitely always have a safe space in office with a therapist like me!
