About My Clients
I work best with people who can be serious about therapy but also understand that it is just as okay to laugh as it is to cry. People who are willing to try something different and are okay with telling me that they are absolutely not going to try something. I work best with people who understand that I am not here to judge or scold them but to help them reach their goals. I am here to walk alongside my clients and guide them as they find their way.
My Background and Approach
I graduated with my Master's in Social Work from Michigan State University in 2008. I worked with adults and then children with developmental disabilities for the first few years of my career. I then worked with children and their families in home doing intensive therapy. I helped families with generational trauma and years of unhelpful coping skills to be more functional in their daily lives. Since then, I have completed the Level 1 Trauma Certificate through MSU, TF-CBT, EMDR, and CPT trainings.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am working to be anti-racist and also I am an abolitionist social worker. Abolitionist social workers know that the systems (insurance, CPS, police, etc) are working the way they were designed to but not in a way that helps the communities we live in. I am a queer therapist who believes that Black Lives Matter and that we live on stolen land.
