About My Clients
I work primarily with children, adolescents and young adults (ages 8-22) to develop a sense of empowerment through therapy, while utilizing mind-body awareness, self-regulation and relaxation techniques, coping skills, and social-skills-training to reduce anxiety, process trauma, increase self-esteem, develop social skills, and provide an opportunity for creative expression.
My Background and Approach
I am trained as both a counselor and an art therapist. My goal as a therapist is to focus on learning to cope, through talk, play, art-making, sand tray, connection, movement and laughter. I allow the client to choose from a variety of therapeutic approaches based on the session and how they are feeling. Some sessions may be more talk therapy focused, or we might incorporate some creative expression. I also work from a trauma-informed perspective, and honor each client's individual strengths and needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the creative process as a powerful tool for facilitating self-expression, self-discovery, and self-fulfillment by integrating one's physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health. I also believe in every person's innate capacity for healing and growth, given the proper support and a safe environment. Therapy is most effective when the relationship with the therapist is a collaborative one and a connection of trust develops to nourish the journey of self-growth and healing. Join me in exploring the process of creativity and tapping into your own innate power for growth, healing, and positive change.
