About My Clients
Relationships never start off difficult. Most of the time we begin hopeful and excited. Because of our own expectations, experience, hurts and what some might call "baggage", things can get messy. Research tells us that most people wait 6 years to seek therapy from when their relationship begins being difficult, this can make navigating a way out very difficult because wounds have compounded. I am skilled at helping you sort that out and rebuild your relationship.
My Background and Approach
I have a diverse background. My undergraduate is in Biblical Studies from an evangelical Bible college. I've spent a lot of time doing lay and professional ministry both here in the US and abroad. I was a Secondary English and History teacher for approx 15 years and had a successful few years in sales, before starting my family and going back to graduate school (again). I obtained my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. I have about 20 years of experience as a victims advocate and lay minister working with survivors of childhood abuse and neglect. I am adjuct professor at Grace School of Theology and enjoy keeping my brain active and learning at all times.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an active member of our church and our community. I work to make church a safer place for victims and help to educate lay and professional ministers in the areas of abuse prevention and recovery. I am an evangelical Christian, with a non-judgemental approach. I believe all people are worthy of love and acceptance and work to personify that belief.
