About My Clients
From navigating relationships, gender identity, politics, culture, food and body acceptance.... thriving is no small task in our society. I look forward to helping you sort out what thriving means for you. My specialties include body image, disordered eating, anxiety, sexual trauma and providing an affirming environment for LGBTQIA+ individuals. I work with teens 15 and up and adults.
My Background and Approach
I take a holistic and individualized approach to exploring what is going on for you, and working along side you to navigate the specific challenges that you are facing. You are unique and therapy looks different for you than for anyone else. I draw from attachment theory, body-based and experiential therapies, as well as ecological and feminist approaches. I aim to incorporate how familial, social, economic and cultural forces interact in our society to impact individual well-being. I have spent a large chunk of my life working in outdoor settings with people, whether that be backpacking trips or gardens. The winding road that led me here has provided me with both a humbleness and a growing curiosity for each individual's wisdom, experience and struggles. I have a Master of Counseling from Regis University. I have also completed a two-year training in Hakomi, (a body-centered mindfulness bases psychotherapy) and a 200 hr yoga teacher training.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I take a feminist/liberation approach to counseling, which acknowledges that mental health is greatly impacted by the many types of oppression that are present in society. I have worked extensively with people with disabilities, disadvantaged youth, First Nations people, immigrants and international students. I am involved in the LGBTQ+ community, specifically focused on the transgender/non-binary community. I also believe that feeling connected to the world is the cornerstone of mental health. I aim to help heal connections whether that is in relationship, with animals, nature, gardens or your spiritual beliefs/ faith.
