About My Clients

Have you experienced a loss or trauma that is too big for words? Maybe you believe what you are going through is too great a burden to share with others? Are you experiencing guilt or shame that is too much to bear? With a background in hospital social work, I have been in the trenches and walked along side people dealing with the impossible. I am here, with no judgments, to hold a calm and nurturing space for you. My specialty areas include chronic illness, grief/loss and trauma.

My Background and Approach

The majority of my clinical experience has been working with children, and primarily their adult caregivers, in the pediatric medical setting. I previously worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and for the last ten years I have been employed at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, currently serving as the evening/weekend lead social worker for the Egleston campus. I approach therapy with a social justice lens, and believe in the power of humor and shared laughter to help us connect and cope. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities including but not limited to psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, EMDR, attachment, and family systems. I practice mindful meditation and like to offer those techniques as tools for observing our emotions and bodies. I also encourage dream journaling and discussing dreams during the therapy session as a way to understand what the subconscious mind is trying to process.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In a calm and comforting environment, we will dig deep to identify your feelings, examine how the patterns in your life may or may not serve you, and reinforce coping strategies that work for you. With your history and what you carry with you informing us, we will rely on our interactions in the therapy session to help us access and begin to repair the pain you are feeling. We will use the safe space of our relationship to practice authentic self-expression with confidence and improve how you relate to the people in your life. I am especially committed to building a safe space for those who have experienced racial justice, oppression and inequality. I have received additional training to work with the LGBTQ community as well. I also believe in a feminist approach to therapy and supporting women/those who identify as women on their journey throughout our patriarchal society.

Nice to Meet You!

Sometimes it helps to see your therapist, hear their voice, and envision the space we will be working in. Allow me to introduce myself and explain the services I provide. Looking forward to seeing you!
