About My Clients
Many of my clients are prospective or current college students, emerging adults and adults. I specialize in helping folks move through people-pleaser recovery. People-pleasers may have an intense fear of making mistakes and put a lot of effort into avoiding rejection from others. Some symptoms I often see include academic anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, social anxiety, co-dependency, trauma, body image concerns and more.
My Background and Approach
As a licensed creative arts therapist, I am trained in traditional talk therapy and evidence based art therapy. It is your choice each session to decide which we use to explore your goals. As a therapist I strive to be affirming, compassionate, transparent, and sometimes humorous. I assist clients in understanding how their beliefs about themselves evolved from past relationships. Clients practice managing symptoms by relating to difficult thoughts and feelings in new ways. Over time, clients find stronger self-confidence and trust in their minds and bodies. During my 8 years as a therapist I have worked in various levels of eating disorder treatment care including inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient therapy services. I have been honored to support clients with body image distress as they strengthen their relationships with themselves and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a social justice and feminist oriented person and therapist. I believe it's important to examine the systems of oppression that contribute to our mental health. I am passionate about Health at Every Size (Haes) as well as LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights. Before entering the mental health field, I interned at an arts program for underprivileged youth in NYC. I spent a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA member advocating for underrepresented communities of Buffalo, NY. I have loved volunteering through the years and have ran various art groups for refugee youth and nursing home residents.
