My specialty area is helping emerging adults recover from emotional abuse and emotional neglect they experienced growing up (forms of complex PTSD/C-PTSD). The ways people adapt to those experiences can hurt how they relate to themselves and the world, and can result in symptoms that get labeled as depression, anxiety, or other diagnoses. We can use trauma-informed approaches that work with your inner resources and nervous system to help you heal deeply.

For those who feel stuck in hopelessness, sadness, numbness, and disconnection, even simple tasks can become impossible and pointless. You may feel like you’ve lost yourself and maybe you don’t even feel sad about it anymore. People might offer "mind-over-matter" comments that just add to the shame. I want to help you look at the meaning of your feelings, to meet the needs they are about.

You may feel so at-odds with yourself sometimes, like there are different versions of you--some who are great, and some who you hate. These inner relationships need care. There is potential for self re-parenting your wounded inner child as a way to heal and grow towards a better life. We can help you understand and navigate the natural—and valuable—complexity within you.

Trauma is, by nature, a very embodied experience. When we ignore our body-feelings or emotions because they aren’t verbal or cognitive, we miss out on crucial information that our nervous systems possess. We can get in touch with that resource, and can use it to guide finding our best path in life, and to heal old wounds at the deep level. I offer guided focusing, EFT Tapping, psychoeducation and somatic interventions to bridge this gap.

Processing life through creative media accesses powerful parts of our brain that support deep change and healing. The creative process itself can provide a perfect balance of safety and realness to allow these to happen. Often, there is less need to talk about difficult topics, or even things that you have consciously forgotten about but still feel nagging at the edges of your mind. I offer virtual sandtray and creative experiences to help non-artists and artists alike to gain insight and heal.

I believe that empathy, warmth, and genuineness are better tools for healing than any of the fancy stuff I learned in grad school, or since. You are the expert on YOU, while it's my job to support a safe healing space and offer some options to support your process. People who didn’t like therapy before often find our work is different. I'll use your own words to describe yourself; we can talk about diagnoses only if you want to. I tailor my work to each client, and support autonomy throughout.
