About My Clients
Have you developed ways to manage intense feelings that interfere with living up to your fullest potential? Maybe you have struggled with low self-esteem and are stuck in cycles of behavior and thoughts that seem hard to break. Trauma and its effects may have touched your life, and as a result, you may find yourself living a life that is out of alignment with your goals. I look forward to co-creating a space in which you can make sense of the past, and explore new ways of being.
My Background and Approach
My hope is to develop a healing space in which you find the freedom to develop insight into why you feel the way you do right now, and why you may be using certain behaviors to cope. From there, we will explore new ways to cope that are connected to your underlying needs and goals. I use an eclectic approach tailored to your individual needs. I am EMDR certified (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and have training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and IFS (Internal Family Systems). I am happy to discuss more about these approaches in a free 15 minute consultation! I use a strengths-based approach and an anti-oppressive framework throughout my work. I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, and have experience working in the field of substance use and community mental health. I firmly believe that you have within you everything you need to succeed in reaching your goals, and together we will find it!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, learn, and change. I strive to maintain an awareness of the systemic structures that influence oppression and privilege, using a trauma-informed lens. I believe that in order to be an effective clinician, I, too, must strive to actively grow as an individual and as a professional along the way. My philosophy is to continuously work to learn, sharpen my skills, and challenge my own perceptions and biases so that I can create a healing space for others. I also practice what I preach, meaning that I would never advocate for a client to do something that I wouldn't (or haven't) done myself!
