About My Clients
My typical client presents with anxiety and depression. They usually have a lot of rumination going on in their thoughts which is getting in the way of living their best life. They either live in the "What if this? or What if that?" or the "shame and guilt" of the past dwelling on "something that already took place." My job is to help them live more fully in the present finding joy in everyday life. We will work towards that! There is hope!
My Background and Approach
I have 20+ years of experince in the mental health field. I am certified in perinatal mental health, postpartum depression and anxiety, and EMDR. I am trained in Gottman Couple's practice and the Developmental Model Practice for Couples. I specialize in working with chronic pain and chronic illness. I worked from a strength-based, systems-based approach and attachment theory. I know that each person has unique strengths. They may not be able to recognize those strengths and it is my job to help them do so. We depend on others. What do our support systems look like? How have our earlier relationships in life affected us? I take all these variables into account when working with a client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that when you choose to see a therapist it is considered a strength rather than a weakness. It is important to be vulnerable and allow your feelings to be seen and heard in a safe place. It shows that you are taking action on a problem rather than being a bystander. I have always believed therapy to be a useful tool in my journey. Learning new strategies and coping methods can be very helpful. Having a therapist that helps you explore and see things from a different perspective. A therapist that allows you to have insight into areas of yourself you didn't know were there.
