About My Clients
My clients are typically couples who find themselves in repetitive, “stuck” patterns that leave them asking profoundly painful questions, such as: Do I matter to my partner? Should it really be this hard or overwhelming? Do our difficulties mean something is wrong with the relationship? I work best with those who are willing to dig deep into vulnerable places and take risks to relate to their partner in a different way.
My Background and Approach
I am a practitioner of Emotionally-Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), a highly researched treatment for couple therapy in which 90% of couples significantly improve their relationship, and 70-75% of couples no longer fit criteria for relationship distress following treatment. I work with couples to figure out how they get so disconnected and transform their bond from one that is insecure to secure, so that they can better reach for one another in moments of distress. I am a licensed psychologist in San Diego, CA and maintain active licenses to practice in both California and Iowa. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University in 2020 and completed a postdoctoral residency at VA San Diego Healthcare System, where I received specialized training in providing evidence-based couple therapy. Most recently, I completed my Externship and Core Skills training in EFT through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
