About My Clients

I work with people recovering from trauma as well as those undergoing academic, occupational, and social stress, which has led me to be highly experienced at working with college students and gifted learners, tech industry professionals, and highly sensitive populations. I also have a special interest in working with body diversity through a Health at Every Size model, LGBTQIA+ communities, polyamory and ethical non-monogomy, kink/BDSM communities, and sex workers.

My Background and Approach

I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling degree in 2012, and have been practicing therapy for the past 7 years with a focus on trauma-informed care. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, as I try to tailor my approach to individual needs; this results in an eclectic style of therapy designed to change with you as you progress. My therapeutic style is based on principles of humanistic (person-centered) and feminist psychology, which emphasize the value of an individual's unique experience, and the way interactions between individuals and social structures influence that experience. I encourage a very collaborative relationship; if something isn't working for you, we will work together to find what does. I strive to uphold principles and practices of cultural awareness and sensitivity, and to regard each client as the expert on their own experience. Through this framework, I am well-equipped to treat issues related to marginalized populations and non-traditional communities.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Social justice advocacy is very important to me, and I work to uphold values of inclusivity and accessibility in my professional and personal life. I advocate for changing systemic and social biases that negatively impact people's health and well being, including better access to mental health services and ending stigma against mental illness. When I am not wearing my therapist hat, I am often spending time enjoying the company of my pets, engaged in political activism, taking in and critically analyzing film and literature, singing karaoke, playing trivia games, or going on a little adventure to step out of my comfort zone. Sometimes, I do several of these things at once, often to the annoyance of my aforementioned pets.
