About My Clients

Stress, anxiety, loneliness are normal parts of life but sometimes these things can bottle-neck and it becomes overwhelming and isolating. Or perhaps you're going through a major transition and need a neutral place to make sense of it. Talking about it in therapy can be enormously helpful. Together we'll work to help you feel less alone and to make sense of uncertainty.

My Background and Approach

Looking for a therapist can be overwhelming. My hope is that this will give you an idea of who I am and what it might be like for us to sit together. Above all, I wish you luck in your search to find a therapist who is the right fit for you. I have been a therapist for 20 years. What is important to you is important to me. Each session is tailored to your needs. Sometimes you may want more structure or feedback. Sometimes you might just need someone to listen, to witness your pain, and know you were heard. That is how I see my role: to be a human being sitting with another human being offering emotional help, support, & insights. I offer a compassionate skill set and down to earth approach to help you make the changes you want to make in your life. You will always be heard and you will never be judged. I have worked in hospitals, mental health centers, private practices and college counseling, including several years as the assistant director of MH services for a large university.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe deeply in social justice and that white, cisgendered people of privilege like myself need to be at the forefront of fighting for equal rights. I believe I was lucky to be born into the body, as quirky as it is, that I was meant to inhabit. My volunteer work resettling refugees has been some of the most sobering and humbling work of my life. We all have the ability to make changes in our lives, but sometimes we need some guard rails, guidance and support and that's where a good therapist comes in. I believe in the power of therapy. It provides uncluttered, uncomplicated, private space to think things through; a space where you'll never be judged or rushed or told not to feel that way.
