About My Clients
I provide therapy primarily to all individuals 18 and older. I have enjoyed supporting clients through grief and loss, depression, anxiety, life transitions, chronic illness, and trauma. I especially have a passion for working with LGBTQ+ individuals, and I am able to provide gender affirming care and letters for those pursuing medical transition. I am sex-positive and affirming towards all relationship styles.
My Background and Approach
My clinical approach is to utilize the therapeutic power of the human relationship to help clients achieve their goals, as well as create the kind of life that they envision for themselves. I believe strongly that my clients are the experts in their own lives, and that counseling can be an important tool in helping clients feel empowered. I like to utilize psychodynamic concepts in examining the way that our pasts inform our present, and I am a fan of celebrating every small step along the way toward growth and healing. I have training in CBT and DBT modalities. While I may have many tools and strategies that I may discuss with my clients, I am most interested in finding what feels best for each individual. I am happy to provide a more structured and skills-based therapeutic setting, or I am just as happy to have a more laidback approach. The most important thing is that each client feels that they are receiving the help and support that they desire.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer, trans man and have experience living across the US as well as internationally. Cultural humility, social justice, and the idea that all humans have the potential for positive change and growth are important to me. I spend time outside of work volunteering with local mutual aid and nonprofit groups, including groups supporting immigrant rights as well as a local Pride organization. I also spend time working with some national organizations fighting for LGBTQ rights in the US. I also believe that hope is always possible. I myself have a long history of struggling with anxiety and depression, which is what initially drove me to becoming a mental health professional myself. I have had wonderful therapists who helped to guide me towards healing, and now it's my turn to support clients who are still on that journey.
