About My Clients
As a marriage and family therapist, I focus predominantly on couples but also have experience with children, teens, and families. I believe problems arise in a relational context and therefore, are best solved through a relational lens. I am a veteran and enjoy working with people that are military-affiliated. As a woman of color, I value working on empowering those that have been marginalized and oppressed and really enjoy getting to work with interracial couples.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is a collaborative one, I recognize the power differential that exists and work hard to ensure my clients feel like a team with me and know that while I may be an expert in the field, they are the experts on their lives and we can all learn from each other and continue to grow as human beings. I mainly draw from Attachment Theory, Gottman, and EFT in my work. I naturally gravitate towards being strength-based and will always look for the positives. I am direct and would describe myself as a "tough-love" therapist, I will not hesitate to hold you accountable or highlight unhelpful behaviors, however, I do this from a place of wanting to help with growth and not being malicious or judgmental.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about helping people break traumatic cycles and empowering them to draw on their resiliency and let them create a new narrative that works for them. I believe the world often gives us messages about who we should be and I think we should tell the world who we are and let the world figure it out.
