About My Clients
Therapy is not a one size fits all process and progress through the process is not that way either.
My Background and Approach
In my approach to counseling, I utilize techniques from multiple theories with an emphasis on mindfulness and trauma informed. I am passionate about meeting clients where they are in the therapeutic process and walking alongside them in collaboration to grow long term. I have a strong background in DBT and utilize DBT informed practices to assist in distress tolerance and emotional regulation especially for neurodivergent folks. I have spent much of my professional career working with LGBTQIA2S+ individuals with a focus on providing gender therapy including gender affirming care and this is something that I maintain extensive work with and am passionate. My clients can expect me to be supportive in identity exploration, its intersection with mental health, and the important ways to target therapy needs. I also include a long length of experience with the neurodivergent population and being neurodivergent myself I have extended my knowledge to create neurodivergent accessible services.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in being a strong advocate for not only change but justice and equity. I strive to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space to exist as you navigate your mental health journey. As someone that is transgender and queer I understand the impact that relationships, background, society, and personal beliefs have on our mental health. As someone that is Autistic and has ADHD, I have experienced firsthand the stress of executive dysfunction, emotional dysregulation, and stigmatization. I have found that we live in a world that is not created to include neurodivergence and impacts mental health as a result. I believe that often coping skills are developed in a time of necessity to survive in that moment, but I also believe that once they are no longer necessary to survive they no longer serve us and we are able to replace them with other coping skills.
