About My Clients
We all have the potential for healing and living authentic, mindful lives, but many of us have had painful experiences that interfere with this capacity. I enjoy working with clients who are seeking healthy ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression, improve relationships, and heal unresolved grief, shame, and trauma. They may feel stuck or overwhelmed or are seeking to make a life transition or break a cycle of family dysfunction.
My Background and Approach
I believe that we all have the potential for healing. Successful therapy involves exploring patterns of coping that may no longer be useful and identifying strengths that you may not realize you have. Non-judgmental listening and support is key to my approach. I draw most from current neuroscience, attachment and mindfulness-based experiential therapies. I am also trained in EMDR, a useful technique for processing trauma and integrating painful experiences. I use these therapeutic tools to support and guide you as you learn coping skills and discover a sense of hope, meaning and connection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Social Justice and cultural humility are core values for me. I express this through my choices of work and volunteering, including a first career as a legal aid attorney, past volunteer work in areas that include mediation/dispute resolution and prison violence-prevention programs, and current work providing affordable counseling. I have lived abroad as a child and adult, as experience essential to my own attention to culture in therapy. I have loved working with immigrant clients and having them educate me on their perspectives.
