About My Clients
I hope our work together will help you heal the sadness, anxiety or relationship difficulties that you may be experiencing. The negative thoughts and emotions that overwhelm you taint the view of yourself and others. Together we can work on learning strategies to overcome your cognitive and emotional traps. All you need is a guiding hand to embrace the courage to face your anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflicts. I would be honored to be the professional who help you in this process.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in mental health services. I provide individual, group and family therapy to adolescents and adults suffering from a wide variety of mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder and body focus repetitive disorders, self–defeating habits and bereavement. I feel fortunate to be able to provide bilingual Spanish services and to bring my awareness of multicultural issues and their impact in mental health functioning. I earned my master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University and completed my clinical internships at Trinitas Regional Medical Center and Bayonne Community Mental Health Center. I am trained in EMDR (levels I and II) TEAM Therapy (Level 2). I used a goal-oriented and collaborative approach integrating cognitive-behavioral methods with empirically sound strategies to tailor treatment to address my clients’ individual needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapists and clients are equal partners in the process of change and the quality of their relationship is crucial in the process of healing. As a therapist, I strive to build a safe and welcoming environment for clients to explore their deepest thoughts and emotions. A therapeutic alliance built on empathy and support and that relies on evidenced based interventions can bring the best therapeutic outcomes. I greatly enjoy witnessing client's experience not only reductions in their symptoms and suffering, but reaching joy and fulfillment in their lives.
