About My Clients
My clients are primarily LGBTQ+ and have tried different kinds of therapy before that haven't worked for them. While I do offer some of the traditional modalities, I try to explore this work with genuine curiosity as opposed to clinical judgement. I see service industry folks, sex workers, activists, students, writers and other various kinds of hustlers. I see people with anxiety and depression who are trying to change the patterns they know so well, but can't seem to break.
My Background and Approach
I am certified in LGBTQ-Affirmative CBT and Motivational Interviewing. My specialties include sexuality/gender identity development, non-monogamy and relationship anarchy, sex work affirming therapy and body neutrality. I also hold a Masters in Sociology, which informs a critical lens to my work. I am both warm and understanding, while remaining firm in the work I believe we are meant to do together. I am comfortable easing clients through somatic exercises as much as I am comfortable leading clients through exploring trauma and pain. I believe in truly establishing if we are a good fit before committing to an ongoing therapeutic relationship. This website appears to be glitching and will only let me save TF-CBT as a technique I am experienced in. This is not actually the case. My areas of expertise include CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction Therapy and Couples Counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in not gate-keeping the field of mental health and have learned from many different kinds of healers, mentors and therapists. My professional network is expansive and includes both reiki practitioners and Buddhist nuns. I may incorporate somatic exercises or Tarot into our sessions, depending on your goals and needs. If you are interested in an "evidence-based practice," I am happy to use one, but I will always ask for consent first; I tailor every therapy session to the person's individual needs and do not believe that one size fits all. I also believe that systemic issues are the main causes of most mental health "issues" and I aim to dismantle the systems that enforce a power dynamic in our own therapeutic alliance. What I mean to say is, I don't consider myself the "expert" on your needs--you are.
