About My Clients
Sierra offers virtual sessions between 10am and 4pm Monday through Friday. Sierra specializes in working with Queer and Trans clients, poly/ENM/open relationships, ADHD, and anxiety and has worked with these populations for over a decade. They are currently working towards becoming an OCD specialist as well. Sierra utilizes a collaborative and strengths based approach and focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship while using evidenced based theoretical approaches.
My Background and Approach
I received my MSW in 2018 from the University at Albany. From 2018-2021 I worked within community mental health clinics with a wide array of clients and diagnoses. I have an eclectic person centered approach, typically pulling from more than one theory/model. I tend to use my humor in session and acknowledge systemic issues that cannot be resolved within personal therapy. My goal is to teach you the skills you need to maintain your personal level of independence and functioning. I will always take direction from my client and tailor my approach to their needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every human has innate rights and no one should go without. I stand in solidarity with anyone facing discrimination and oppression and my sessions are a safe place for discussing these concerns. I aim to improve my working knowledge of the world around me and make it a better place for others. Learning and unlearning can be beneficial to each and every one of us. It can be difficult to see our own “stuff” sometimes and that can be where a therapist can come in. I want you to receive the best treatment possible; this starts with having a great relationship with your provider. Sometimes that means it won't be with me, that's okay! Therapy is for you and I want to be a helpful guide in this journey regardless of how brief we cross paths. If you decide you need to go another route I will assist you in any way I can.
