About My Clients
While individual adults (18+) of all social locations are welcome to inquire about my practice, I primarily serve those at the intersection of multiply marginalized identities whose stories have been deliberately erased and delegitimized by dominant structures of society. If you are seeking to reclaim your life, I am here to be a pillar for you in this journey.
My Background and Approach
I am a 1.5-gen immigrant of Chinese diaspora, cis woman, dragon, libra, and art-maker who has spent much of adulthood crawling back to what I call childhood wonders where curiosity, presence, and playfulness guide my ways of being. As a narrative therapist, I hold precious to these childhood wonders while providing culturally responsive mental health care from a storytelling, relational, and liberatory lens. In our work together, it is my hope that you may deconstruct what no longer serves you and build on movements toward liberation in ways that are most meaningful to you. I believe counseling can be generative when we allow ourselves this freedom to slow down and take detours we otherwise might not permit ourselves to travel. As such, you might experience me as a gentle stream guiding us through uncharted territories within your stories, so that you can begin to trust in the skills and wisdom held already inside you and your communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In spite of whatever challenges are present in your life, here is what I believe. You are not the problem. The problem is the problem, and the problem is often located within your socio-political-cultural contexts. As such, I am unconvinced of the traditional psychotherapy frameworks rooted in notions of pathology, neutrality, and the therapist being a "blank slate". I am a human with lived experiences holding biases that I am committed to unlearning throughout my life. I understand you may hold curiosities about me and I do not shy away from bringing myself into the therapeutic relationship in intentional ways while centering your healing, reconnection, and journey to home.
