About My Clients
When a child or teen is struggling, it can affect every part of life: school, relationships, and confidence. I work with individuals aged 5-25 and their families to figure out what is getting in the way of the life they want, and arm them with the skills and resilience needed to thrive. I provide an accepting space to navigate the effects of adversity or trauma, manage intense anxiety or feelings of hopelessness, improve low self-esteem, and gain emotion regulation strategies.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist with 8+ years of clinical experience. I prioritize a strong relationship with my clients, a strengths-based approach, and creating a treatment plan that highlights your values and goals. I draw from extensive training in evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and parent coaching. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, ADHD, and other challenges. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical and Developmental Psychology at the U of Minnesota and completed my internship and postdoctoral fellowship at UC Davis.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My guiding principles are my beliefs in social justice, human rights, and exercising compassion. I am a woman of color and a strong supporter (and member) of the LGBTQIA+ community, which has shaped my own perspectives and development. Navigating intersections of identity is a challenging but necessary part of life, and I can be a nonjudgmental advocate and guide in that process. I believe that as a clinician, my job is to take a consistent stance of cultural humility. I strive to continually learn from others about their lived experiences, acknowledge the limits of my expertise, engage in critical self-reflection, and advocate for each of my patients.
