About My Clients
I work with adults struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. I have a particular expertise supporting survivors of complex trauma, including interpersonal violence, sexual assault, and intergenerational or attachment wounding. My goal as a therapist is to foster your personal growth, strengthen your connection to self and others, and help restore your sense of worthiness and well-being.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a background in mental health, advocacy, and education. My career spans over a decade and includes work within children & family services, anti-violence, racial justice, and human rights spaces. Through these experiences, and my own healing journey, I have come to understand the importance of safety, trust, and authenticity as a therapist. My approach is collaborative and integrative. I draw from a number of modalities, including relational, attachment-based, and insight-oriented, and I incorporate EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic work to strengthen mind-body connection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a multiracial Japanese-American woman, I am aware of the complexity of identity and the ways in which it affects how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I am intersectional and anti-oppressive in my work, honoring one’s social location and exploring how systems of power and oppression contribute to the challenges that bring them to therapy.
