About My Clients
Some of my clients are aware they have past trauma, and some are not sure, but all find themselves unhappy in life, unsure, easily bothered by things, or struggling with anxiety or depression. Some feel they don't know who they are anymore, or perhaps never did. Some are confused about their relationships. Most would like to be more confident and stronger in all areas of their lives.
My Background and Approach
My counseling has always been Trauma-Informed -- meaning I treat everyone in a compassionate, kind, accepting manner that is considerate of any past experiences you may have had and its possible impact on you. It is supportive of you taking charge of your life again - the vital thing that trauma takes from you. Additionally, my specialty has always been trauma and includes physical, verbal, sexual, psychological, emotional, narcissistic, and what we now know as Complex or Developmental Trauma and Attachment Trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all do our best, but sometimes we react to things in ways we do not want to, nor fully understand why we do. I provide counseling that asks 'what caused you to be this way' rather than 'what is wrong with you?' It is a place where you can learn a different way to interact with others, or learn more about why you do or say what you do. As we work together your increased understanding of yourself will assist you to make wiser choices. While I do identify as a white straight cis woman, trauma can happen to anyone, and more to some communities, thus I have extensive experience, both personally and professionally, with people from all communities including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+. I accept unconditionally, and attend Spokane Pride regularly.
