About My Clients
My passion is working with Asian American clients (and first time therapy-goers), who are looking for a therapist that gets and values their cultural experiences so that they can have the safety to explore what's within. Clients I work well with are willing to engage their vulnerabilities, willing to pass through the storm to reach their clearer skies, and not relying on finding a "cure" to their struggles.
My Background and Approach
I am certified in CBT with an extensive background in utilizing DBT and mindfulness-based approaches. I also favor an attachment-based or relational focus while support clients in integrating their trauma(s). I like to seamlessly integrate my skills to help with various mental health difficulties. The dynamic in the room tends to be reciprocal and engaging. Whatever tools from my clinical training I may use, I offer acceptance, compassion, and authenticity and challenge my clients to do the same for themselves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am all about destigmatizing mental health for Asian Americans. I have seen the harm of neglecting one's mental health and engaging in inner dialogues of, "I should just be able to push through this." Cultural values of perseverance and family first sometimes can often mean putting our mental health last. I support my clients in integration- to seek and embrace their own values, find ways to align with cultural views, while attending to their emotional wellbeing.
