About My Clients
Finding a good fit in a therapist is essential to having a positive outcome. To find out if I might be a good fit for you, read my bio on my ••WEBSITE••, ConceptsInHealingLLC.com to learn more about me and my practice. I keep everything updated as to when I am full and when I can take on new clients. While I offer virtual services, I prefer to see clients in person. See FAQs on my website for why. ••FACEBOOK•• page: Concepts In Healing LLC ••INSTAGRAM••: @ConceptsInHealingLLC
My Background and Approach
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2001, and then went right into the Master’s of Social Work program at IUPUI. I graduated in 2004 and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2007. Right out of school, I started working as a community based therapist in Indianapolis. I worked with adults with severe mental illnesses—mood and thought disorders, particularly Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. I was there for a few years and then took a position as the team leader and Program Manager for the Assertive Community Treatment team in both Hancock and Shelby Counties. I continued providing therapy during that time, working with the same client population for seven years. I worked in behavioral health care management for 8 years prior to opening my own private practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My therapeutic approach is person-centered and strengths-based. This means being genuine, nonjudgmental, trying to see things from my client’s point of view, and supporting their independence. I mostly use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I like to incorporate a variety of techniques depending on what best meets the needs of my clients. While I do offer virtual appointments, I vastly prefer in person sessions.
