I have worked extensively with client who are or have experienced mild, moderate and/or severe depression. I use an approach called CBT which explores how thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected and can affect your daily life.

I have worked with numerous families to help establish healthy communication skills. My goal is to help families learn to relate to each other in ways that does not damage the family bond and to help create better patterns of interacting.

I work to help clients understand that anger is a normal human emotion that must be expressed in a healthy and productive way. I explore anger triggers, unhealthy thought patterns that contribute to anger and identify ways to control or reduce angry outbursts. Everyone wants to feel heard but it is up to the individual to speak in a way that others can receive you. This does not mean that they will agree with you but it opens the door to understanding.

I am a strong believer in the fact that all behavior is purposeful including behavior that is derived from anger. I focus on helping clients see how uncontrolled anger is affecting their life. We explore thought patterns related to anger and learn to reprogram the brain to have a different response to the situations.

I am a strong believer in the fact that thoughts play an important role in how we respond to others and situations. CBT helps to identify unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors that block you from your goals.

I believe that we all have within us the answers to our own problems. Solution focused brief therapy helps the client to envision what there goals would look like if the problem was solved. It is less important to understand that origin of the problem. Rather it is more important to identify behaviors that interfere with getting what you want out of life. This helps the client create behaviors that foster change.

In today's fast pace world, life can put demands on us to balance all the responsibilities that come with the various roles we fill (spouse, parent, sibling, daughter, son, friend, community member and caregiver). But there are times that these things can become overwhelming especially when unplanned events happen. I have successfully worked with clients in learning to balance life responsibilities and manage transitions and stressors. Everyone needs a helping hand every now and then.
