About My Clients
Are you concerned about your child? Is she anxious and worried? Or quiet and withdrawn? Is he afraid or having nightmares? Is anxiety causing tummy aches or vomiting? Have absences gone up or grades gone down? These are some of the reasons parents come to see me.
My Background and Approach
I have over 16 years of experience working with young children and adolescents in a variety of treatment settings, including: outpatient, day treatment, inpatient and residential. Many of the children that I have worked with had severe mental illness and trauma histories. Most struggled with anxiety, depression, anger and acting out behaviors. I provide individual psychotherapy utilizing cognitive behavior therapy and psychodynamic approaches to treatment. Interventions include play therapy, sand tray therapy, narrative therapy, and the use of creative arts in therapy, along with traditional talk therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that sometimes children need a little extra help to adjust to their circumstances, overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. Some children need more than a little help to manage more severe issues. I can help children who are adjusting to divorce, change in schools, issues with making friends, loss, grief, to name a few of the life stressors I help kids manage. I also help kids with mild to severe anxiety, depression, obsessive thinking, fears, phobias and more. I love working with kids and watching them grow into their true self. Some of my favorite quotes are: "Sometimes in the winds of change we find our true direction" - anonymous "It's not about getting through the storm, but learning to dance in the rain" - Virginia Greene "Be yourself! (Unless you can be Batman, then be Batman" - anonymous
