About My Clients
My clients are often thoughtful, self-aware people who are used to holding it all together, but are tired of overthinking, second-guessing, or feeling stuck. I work with young women and adults navigating anxiety, perfectionism, identity, relationships, trauma, and life transitions, as well as couples preparing for marriage. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcoming of diverse identities, relationships, and family structures.
My Background and Approach
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who believes therapy should feel like a conversation, not a performance review. My approach is warm, collaborative, and honest, with a little humor and directness mixed in. I draw from Narrative, Solution-Focused, and Feminist approaches to help you make sense of the stories, patterns, and expectations you’ve picked up along the way. I also use EMDR to help clients reprocess experiences that still feel stuck. You don’t need to show up with a five-year plan or a perfectly organized explanation of what’s wrong. We can start with, “I don’t even know where to begin,” and figure it out from there.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you can be self-aware and still have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. You can know ~why~ you do something and still struggle to change it. And yes, you can love someone deeply and still be annoyed with them. I’m open-minded, non-judgmental, and affirming of different identities, relationships, sexualities, gender expressions, family structures, and ways of living. You don’t have to convince me that your experience is valid before we can talk about it. I’m interested in the gray areas, the contradictions, and the stories we’ve been carrying around without realizing we had a choice in them. I’ll probably ask, “Where did you learn that?” or “What else could be true?” because sometimes the beliefs that feel most like facts are actually just things we’ve been practicing for a really long time. Therapy isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about understanding yourself well enough to decide what you actually want to keep, change, or let go of.
