About My Clients
I encourage my clients to show up authentically & unapologetically to their sessions. Wear pajamas, bring starbucks, get comfy, & let's talk. Whether it be gaining back control over your life, dealing with a traumatic experience, or trying to find out who you are, I am here to walk this journey with you by meeting you where you are at and figuring out how to get you where you want to go.
My Background and Approach
As someone who has worked in the mental health field for over 8 years, I come prepared with a diverse toolbox to each and every session. The tools we will use together are dependent upon who you are, what you enjoy, and who you want to become. I have spent my career building my expertise by collecting these different tools - paintbrushes for art therapy, journals for narrative therapy, question prompts to identify your values, coping skills to find ways to breathe when it feels impossible, diagrams of what goes on in the physical parts of our brain and bodies when we feel panicked, and so much more. I work with my clients to create their own toolbox, for those moments when you feel lost, overwhelmed, or helpless. Let's work with one another to empower you to take control back over your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Although my name makes me sound like a southern belle from the movie Steel Magnolias, I have made a conscious effort my entire life to actively listen to perspectives other than my own and advocate for underserved, overlooked, and silenced communities, including BIPOC & LBGTQIA+. For me, to be a good therapist (and ally) is to understand where my own insight stops and someone else's begins. I will never pretend to understand your experiences, but I can provide you with a safe space to share your experiences, thoughts, and feelings. In this space, you will be heard, affirmed, and empowered no matter who you are.
