Grief doesn't have a time limit or a universal way of impacting us; and there are ways to work with our grief to increase compassion to ourselves and the people in our lives. Grief isn't only about death, it also shows up with illness, loss of roles/identities, loss of capacity, and change.

I am part of the queer community, work with non-traditional/non-monogamous/kink relationships, and am gender informed. In the South there is an extra layer of difficulty being LGBTQ+, and I provide a non-judgemental place to process that/

When depression gets intense, it affects how we perceive the world and ourselves. Working with our thought processes and emotional awareness, as well as increasing self compassion, can mitigate how detrimentally depression affects our lives.

It takes too many spoons to fight ourselves. DBT is the ultimate "yes and" therapy. Focusing on what is, accepting it, and working with the resources we have available makes it easier to function and heal.

In therapy, one size does not fit all. I use a smattering of techniques and tools to figure out what works best for the individual in front of me. Processing takes a myriad of forms; maybe art works for one person, while journaling for another. One person may break the stress cycle with exercise, and the next person is allergic to sweating. Lets throw pasta at the wall and see what sticks.

The brain weasels (unhelpful thoughts and though patterns) can be intense. CBT helps to recognize what those thoughts are, and how to alter them to be less caustic and harmful.
