Welcome! I am an Art Therapist passionate about helping individuals explore creativity to find balance when life feels overwhelming.
Creative Art Therapist in Rochester,
Person-Centered therapy started early in my training and education and found that it has been a very effective foundation for treatment. I believe mental health treatment should be about you- where you choose your own goals. This approach allows you the ability to make choices for your treatment. We will develop specific goals for your needs and spend time reviewing preparedness for them as well as aiming for goals within your reach.
My journey through art as healing lead me to become an Art Therapist in 2004. I've found that the beauty in Art Therapy is self-expression, a felt sense, an experience that helps us process the deeper parts of self. It allows the subconscious to rise up, take form, and communicate. It gives us a voice when words cannot be found. Creativity gives us the ability to play, explore, and build confidence as we move through life and can significantly help those in search of healing.
Anxiety can often seem so intense, it can feel like it will never end and it may take some time and patience to undo what is often years of living with this feeling. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy combined with Mindfulness has been shown to help reduce the intensity of anxiety. We will work together to find coping skills using these approaches and develop understanding of how we can reduce the anxiety in your life.
As a highly sensitive person myself, I know firsthand how it can impact daily life. I have specialized in developing treatments to address the overwhelm often associated with high sensitivity. While treatment will focus on anxieties- it will also focus on what it means to be highly sensitive and how to embrace it as a strength. Sometimes sensitivity is accompanied by other issues which enhance daily challenges which we can navigate together.
I have years of experience working with individuals from all walks of life to address transitions- good and bad. From career changes, to family changes, to mental health recovery, and more. Together we will explore ways to develop coping strategies that are comfortable for you. If you've been feeling blocked by something, hang in there, we will work to find solutions. Sometimes we need permission to say, "I'm not doing well." I'm here to say- we can do this!
