About My Clients
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults, people who have experienced both acute and complex trauma, people living with anxiety/depression, folks who are navigating dissociative symptoms /disorders, athletes/performers experiencing chronic or acute illness and/or injury.
My Background and Approach
You already have the internal resources and resilience you need to navigate your life. My job as a counselor is to facilitate accessing, strengthening, and utilizing these resources - even under the most difficult circumstances. I work with presenting issues by simultaneously and explicitly holding broader socio-cultural contexts in conjunction with your individual biology, personality, and history. I offer a strengths-based, client-defined, trauma-informed approach, specializing in how the body/movement can access, work through, and heal trauma, cognitive and behavioral patterns. My approach to counseling is warm and relational. My work is informed primarily by the latest research findings in both neuroscience and trauma-informed care. I balance processing with skill-building, and talk therapy with somatic/movement work. Ultimately, your life context and what you want/need from therapy will guide and shape our work together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value a therapeutic relationship that is solid and ethical. I will be direct and honest with you about what we are doing and why, while also tracking for power/privilege/marginalization dynamics. I respect you as the authority and expert on your life, and am interested in supporting you in having access to more choice in your life.
