About My Clients
I enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults who are struggling with problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment issues, poor self-esteem, and trauma. I have worked in many different settings, including non-profit, a mental health hospital, and in private practice. The majority of my work has been with kids, teens, and young adults, starting from age 5.
My Background and Approach
I try to gain a deep understanding of my clients and their struggles, and formulate therapeutic interventions based on individualized needs. I use primarily cognitive behavioral techniques, but I am also skilled in trauma-focused, dialectical behavioral and solution-focused therapies, as well as play and activity therapy. I also believe that therapy is an open, non-judgmental "conversation" to uncover a person's unique situation and struggles, as well as their strengths and passions. In that way, I can provide the best possible care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a therapist but also a student of life. I have seen a lot, done a lot and have visited many places. I believe all of my experiences thus far bring a unique, well-rounded, non-judgmental perspective to my mental health counseling style. I see no color, religion or sexual identity. I see human beings, all special, all unique! Some causes important to me are child welfare; animal welfare; fighting against hate, violence of all kinds, and discrimination; promoting access to education and the arts for all, among other things.
