About My Clients

I work best with couples who feel stuck in painful patterns—whether that’s distance, emotional shutdown, or recurring conflict. My ideal clients are growth-oriented and open to honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversations that lead to real change. I also support individuals navigating relationship stress, family dynamics, and deep self-reflection. My work is rooted in RLT and EFT: relational and attuned. To learn more or book a consultation, visit my website at www.kodocouplestherapy.com.

My Background and Approach

I have advanced training in Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), two powerful approaches that help couples break out of stuck patterns and reconnect on a deeper level. Before becoming a therapist, I worked for over a decade as a Japanese conference interpreter—an experience that sharpened my ability to listen deeply, track emotional nuance, and translate what’s unspoken into something that can be heard. I specialize in helping high-conflict or emotionally distant couples rebuild trust, safety, and intimacy. My work is directive, compassionate, and always grounded in your growth. I also support individuals working through relational trauma, self-worth issues, and cultural identity questions. My goal is to help you feel more connected—to yourself, to each other, and to the life you want to build. To learn more or book a consultation, visit my website at www.kodocouplestherapy.com.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, our partners, our communities, and the world around us. My work is deeply influenced by my collectivist roots and a commitment to justice, compassion, and cultural humility. I value emotional honesty, mutual accountability, and the courage it takes to grow. I’m continually learning how to decolonize my thinking, challenge systems of harm, and show up in a way that honors both difference and shared humanity. I support LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients and am committed to making therapy more accessible and inclusive. Outside of sessions, I’m a parent, a partner, and a lifelong student of relational depth. I believe that even in moments of rupture, there’s a path back to connection—and I’m honored to walk with people as they find their way there.
