About My Clients

Maybe you think you have somehow lost yourself in the midst of diaper changes, soccer games, and arguing with your teenager. Or maybe you want nothing more than to be a mother but you are unable to get pregnant. It could be that you are trying to work and move forward in your career while being a mom and feel like you are failing in every aspect of your life (you're not, trust me). Motherhood is hard, and you don't need to go through the struggles alone.

My Background and Approach

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 10 years and love helping people build quality relationships with themselves and the ones they love. I have personally experienced the difficulties of postpartum anxiety, pregnancy loss, and parenting. I primarily utilize a treatment approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT (pronounced "act"). The thing that I love about ACT is that it focuses less on solving problems and more on creating and building a meaningful life. The work of ACT emphasizes present-moment awareness (also called mindfulness), acceptance, identifying your values, and committing to action towards those values. Life is more beautiful when your actions align with what is important to you. ACT is not a treatment reserved for a specific diagnosis. In fact, it is less concerned about personal labels and more concerned about helping you live the life you want to live. I have had extensive training in ACT and feel confident it can improve your life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe: Relationships are the foundation of a meaningful life. Loving ourselves and others well is the greatest gift we can give in this world. Engaging with community is essential. I am committed to supporting community. At Exploration Counseling and Consulting, 3% of profits will be donated to support children and families. As a wife, mom, and lifelong explorer I value doing life in connection with others. This is why I enjoy helping others build quality relationships with themselves and those they love. When I'm not working I enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, reading, and hanging out with my family. I also support survivors of human trafficking by serving on the board of a local non-profit organization that is committed to supporting treatment and reintegration of individuals who have been victimized.
